Vortex Ranger 1800 Range Finder Review

Vortex Ranger 1800 Range Finder Review

After using this range finder this fall, there are many features that standout on this Vortex Ranger 1800. Here are a few of the features to highlight. For the full review, see the YouTube video review below.

What I like:

1.   Very quick distance acquisition - After clicking the button the distance read is instantaneous. A very nice feature.

2.   Scan feature - hold down the button and scan multiple deer in the field or trees nearby to get a quick distance reading. This is useful to get a quick reference for the area around you.

3.   Low light - one of my favorite features. I found the low light capability to be outstanding on this unit. The deer always come out at last light.

4.   Very small and lightweight - trying to save ounces for that elk trip. This range finder does the trick.

5.   9 yards to over a mile at 1800 yards - Range the distance off the side of a mountain, across the lake, or directly in front of your treestand.

6.   6x magnification - useful for seeing the animal out in the field without having to pull out the binoculars each time.

What’s helpful:

1.   Horizontal component distance – factors in the slope angle to calculate the distance off the side of a mountain. Gives you a more accurate distance.

2.   Belt clip, reversible from left to right - allows for right or left-handed grabs.

3.   Tripod ¼ 20 connector - perfect for glassing long distance while mounted on top of a tripod for steady ranging.

4.   Lanyard & soft case - bonus features. The lanyard is long enough to carry the range finder around your neck.

5.   Rubber coated - great tactile feel with no slip in rainy conditions.

6.   Vortex unconditional warranty - break it and get a new one, no questions.
